CADDS 5 Structural Steel and Hull Design Option

A broad array of tools to facilitate the design of structural steel including all the manufacturing data, e.g. drawings, NC output, required in the design and manufacture of fabricated steel products, including plants and ships. Unique capabilities include the ability to design not only linear section beams, but also curve or twisted members.

This package includes specific additional capability focused at the design and manufacturing of ship structural steel and hull, including industry specific drawing and manufacturing outputs.

All steelwork is fully associative not only  to itself, but also to the underlying parametric layout, so when parametric changes are made to the design; all the steelwork can be automatically regenerated.

All information generated during the steel design process can be conveniently stored in a local database or in a company's Oracle or Optegra database using the included database management tools, so that component usage can be tracked.

Though not a prerequisite, it is recommended customers use the CADDS 5 Concurrent Assembly with this package for additional assembly scalability and flexibility.

CADDS 5 Advanced Structural Modeling

CADDS 5 Advanced Structural Modeling addresses the requirements of the most demanding structural design elements and structural systems. Created in conjunction with leading shipbuilders, the application is nevertheless applicable to a broad range of structural designs from aerospace to buildings.

Users can model and detail any kind of complex structural system. The software's ability to maintain relationships between elements allows for quick and easy editing, for evaluating design alternatives. With Advanced Structural Modeling, users can accomplish structural tasks that begin with conceptual design through to detailed design and finally to the production of manufacturing and construction outputs.

Based on state-of-the-art NURBS and hybrid modeling technology within CADDS 5, Advanced Structural Modeling is a stand-alone application, providing a foundation for the development of specialized structural applications such as pipe or equipment supports. Advanced Structural Modeling creates structural elements and plates, which can be linear, curved, or twisted. Structural objects can be represented as nodal figures, NURBS curves and surfaces, and/or solids.

A powerful feature of Advanced Structural Modeling is its ability to create relationships between structural objects and parametric entities. This allows detailed structural designs to be easily driven by changes to the parametric model.

Advanced Structural Modeling supports any type of material and Steel section libraries to American, Australian, British, Canadian, and European standards. Advanced Structural Modeling also supports automated coping, structural grids, and physical properties.

The interoperability of Advanced Structural Modeling with all CADDS 5 applications for assemblies, interference checking, computer-aided manufacturing, structural analysis, and drawing production offers a unified approach to creating a complete electronic product definition.

CADDS 5 Hull is an integrated solution to directly meet the needs of shipbuilders for hull and structural design. Combined with the breadth of CADDS 5 Modeling Foundation, it brings features with specialized shipbuilding structural functionality to address the whole process spectrum from the basic design phase through to complete structural detailing outputs.

CADDS 5 Hull facilitates the creation and flow of modeling information required for cutting and manufacturing steel at shipyards and creating tight relationships between the basic parametric models and detail designs. The product's ability to maintain relationships between elements allows for very powerful, quick, and easy editing of design alternatives. Advanced surface modeling is combined with a powerful structural solid modeling application that speaks in terms of structural elements and plates and their topology. Ship-based cross sections, end-cuts, welds, and standardized drawing outputs are included in the solution package. With CADDS 5 Hull, users accomplish ship hull and structure tasks within the context of a seamless electronic product model. This integration of tasks reduces the costs and time schedule of both ship design and manufacturing.
