CADDS 5 Harness and Cabling Option

Added to CADDS 5 Modeling Foundation, this package is used for the design of aerospace cabling systems and wiring looms for the automotive industry.

CADDS 5 Harness and Cabling Option includes parametric and explicit centerline routing tools with user-definable and industry-standard design rules. Once the harness or cable is routed and optimized, you can generate all necessary drawings and manufacturing information, including unfolding to produce form-board drawings.

This CAD CAM software package is most effective when used in combination with the CADDS 5 Concurrent Assembly, which allows you to work in the context of the whole assembly.

This package requires a netlist from a wiring diagram package for input. The CADDS 5 Wiring and Schematic Diagram Design package (optionally available) enables you to create the 2D schematic or wiring diagram needed to generate the input data for this application.

CADDS 5 2D Harness Layout

2D Harness Layout automates the design and manufacture of wires, cables, and harnesses. With 2D Harness Layout, the wire harness is designed following the traditional design methods for harness documentation development. Direct associativity of the layout--with either the netlist or optional wiring and schematic diagram design "front-end"--provides ensured connectivity accuracy and design rule-checking. The user can interactively and automatically route cables and wires into harnesses, define wire and cable lengths, calculate bundle diameters, and produce manufacturing documentation.

The 2D model is used to generate accurate 2D form-board assembly drawings for wiring harness manufacture. Automatic, user-definable data extraction and formatting features generate reports and automatically annotate form-board drawings with speed and precision. 2D Harness Layout is fully interoperable with Wiring and Schematic Diagram Design software for electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Together, these products enable users to perform logical and physical wiring design and verification.

CADDS 5 3D Harness Layout

3D Harness Layout software (CC5-CV2250-F) automates the design and manufacture of wires, cables and harnesses. With 3D Harness Layout, the wiring harness is designed within the three-dimensional geometric product model created using CADDS 5 software. The three-dimensional modeling approach assures accurate design and assembly data and reduces or eliminates the need for physical prototypes. The user can interactively and automatically route cables and wires into harnesses, check clearances, determine wire and cable lengths, calculate bundle diameters, and produce manufacturing documentation.

The 3D model can be automatically unfolded to generate accurate 2D formboard assembly drawings for harness manufacture. Automatic, user-definable data extraction and formatting features generate reports and automatically annotate formboard drawings with speed and precision. Optional analysis capabilities perform stress and vibration analysis as well as electromagnetic interference detection. CADDS 5 3D Harness Layout is fully interoperable with the CADDS 5 Wiring and Schematic Diagram Design software for designing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Together, these products enable users to perform logical and physical wiring design and verification.
