Lotto Sport, the Italian based sporting apparel manufacturer, is using PLM to better control their product development processes. By improving supply chain collaboration, Lotto is seeing reductions in both cost and time-to-market.
Lotto Sport was born in 1973 in the Italian sport shoe district in Montebelluna. Our core business is shoes and apparel with a focus particularly in the soccer, tennis, five-a-side, running, and fitness. We have a turnover more or less $294 million total. We have 240 employees in our headquarters, 130 in our branches all over the world. We produce more or less 30 million pieces spread all over the world in China, India, Pakistan, Italy, and Romania.
Innovation cannot concern only our products but must support also our process. We have to provide modern tools to connect all the actors of our supply chain, integrate our offices all over the world. In our supply chain, this was the main business driver behind our initiative.
Optimizing your supply chain to make it more efficient is becoming crucial in a globalized context. The goal is, of course, to reduce lead time and the cost in order to match the market needs. But to achieve this goal, you need the appropriate tools, and the PLM project is a key element of this process.
This ability and collaboration between cross functional teams was our main business driver behind our initiative. This kind of project has profoundly changed the way to communicate in our company. It's very important to manage all the aspects of this, not the ease of integration. That's why the change management is really critical in a project like this one.
With PLM, now we have more control on our product development process. The information sharing has increased, and the speed of communication and the quality of data thanks to the reduction of the number of steps between the actors of our supply chain. This means, of course, a reduction of time and costs and a big benefit in terms of our process.
Lotto Sport is a global footwear and apparel company with over 100 branches worldwide, and its products are now distributed in over 60 countries. With such a vast global presence, it was important for Lotto Sport to maintain supply chain visibility and consistent product and supplier information across all locations and around the world.
For Lotto Sport, this essential ability for collaboration between cross functional teams was the main business driver behind their PLM initiative. By improving supply chain collaboration, Lotto is seeing reductions in both cost and time-to-market.
The use of PLM technology provides a single source of truth for product and supplier information which helps create global designs with specifications for local market requirements. Global companies can rely on this to align product breadth in category/brands with new regions and channels.
As retailers continue to expand their global reach to new markets, it is crucial that companies maintain visibility and consistency across their supply chain.
